Open Source collaboration update

Merry Christmas and a happy New Year everyone!

I am using some of the downtime in the ‘silly season’ to progress some of the development in the Data Warehouse Automation & ETL generation ecosystem. So, time to give a brief status update.

  • The generic interface for Data Warehouse Automation had to be re-based (recreated) in GitHub due to various issues around forking and branching. It was not possible to commit code updates anymore. The repository has been re-created with the same name and is available at https://github.com/RoelantVos/Data_Warehouse_Automation_Metadata_Interface . However, any notifications and ‘stars’ are lost. If you want to informed, please go to the repository to follow it again.
  • TEAM is nearing completion for the v1.6 release. The biggest final component to complete is the alignment to the generic interface as described above. Almost there, and I look forward to publishing this in the next few weeks. TEAM being a public repository now opens up new possibilities to keep everyone up to date. The following Kanban board shows what’s happening for v1.6: https://github.com/RoelantVos/TEAM/projects/1 .
  • Virtual Data Warehouse v.1.6.1 is almost completed. Most changes are in the background and not visible to users. For example performance improvements and alignment to the generic interface also. You can access the repository here: https://github.com/RoelantVos/Virtual-Data-Warehouse .
  • I am also working on the TEAM_Graph, which is a private repository still (but happy to organise access if interested). This is an exciting project that uses the yFiles libraries (from yWorks) to create a graph-based User Interface. This is intended to interact with the TEAM application, specifically the data grids. I need to work a bit more on the event handling, but it’s all coming together well. Many thanks to yWorks for great training materials and support.

Hopefully I can give a new update in the next 2-3 weeks while I complete the last bits and pieces.
