Now available: Data Warehouse Load Patterns public Github repository

UPDATE 2022 – please note that the Load Patterns repository has been deprecated. The code is now managed via the VDW repository!

The recent new release of the Virtual Data Warehouse software (VDW) introduces the Handlebars templating engine to generate code, providing much greater flexibility than before.

It is now possible to customise the application to a large extent, both by changing the way the metadata is made available but of course also the patterns themselves. These changes fit into the bigger picture of making the ecosystem more interoperable. There always is plenty of work to do, but it’s coming together well.

An additional benefit is that it becomes much easier to release new software components, or in this case, patterns.

To support this, I have created a new public Github repository Data Warehouse Load Patterns. I intend to improve the load patterns used by VEDW on an ongoing bases. The current set of patterns is good to get started and the hard problems are solved, but I didn’t have time to complete all different flavours of each template.

The patterns can be added to VEDW by copying the files to the ‘LoadPatterns’ directory.

Over time, I intend to align this to the Generic Interface for Data Warehouse Automation – once this work stabilises. That should be a fairly simple change.
